I was living in the 4rse end of nowhere, not buying papers, not watching the news. No idea about the financial world. Zero pension, zero savings, zero investments.

And I saw it coming, hence my STR status as I figured I had a good 5+ years of "dropping out" to move/find a job etc before I needed to knuckle down again and I wouldn't be losing out on anything.

What is a financial census? I've never heard of one of those before.

Brag? You asked!!! Not that owning a business is any indicator of wealth or success anyway (sometimes the complete opposite). This 'bickering' is quite pointless.

    Did I?

Do you routinely do a financial census at your place of work?

    Yes, I own the place..

Hmnn, nope, it seems to me that we were discussing whether our peers lived beyond their means, I remarked that although I worked alongside many people I didn't pry as to their wealth. I then asked you if you pried and out of nowhere you announced that you owned 'the place' meaning your place of work.

How that snippet of information fits into the discussion I don't know. Perhaps you intended for me to be so overwhelmed by your obvious succes that I would sneak off an hide like the underachiever that I so clearly am?

DD - I tell you what's really sad.... going back through your posts and editing them to take what I've said out of context.

I find academics generally are the most ill informed of us all. These plonkas are the reason we haven't found a solution to knife crime - they are too far removed from the real world to understand the lives of young kids today, just as economists are to far removed from the mortgage front line to recognise the true nature of the crash.

Actually academics have come up with a tried and proven method of reducing ALL crime, it's just the British public are too greedy and stupid to listen.

Spead the wealth, reduce the difference between richest and poorest always reduces crime, countries with the lowest crime rates always have good wealth distribution.

But this would mean a radical re-think for taxation and the public willing to get less themselves to help out the whole country.

Same as economists are not removed, it's just that a lot of them are employed by various organisations with a vested interest in spreading information that supports what they hope will happen to the market. The press often reads into he information too much and comes up with there own headlines, to help sell papers etc.

I copied the post exactly as it is. Here is a link to that very post:

I have to admit that I'd deny all knowledge too if I was caught bragging so heavily about financial matters, just prior to a rant about how shallow people were who brag about financial matters. Oh the hypocracy!

I'm actually embarrased for you. Look, I'm blushing! :o

I didn't mention a specific post. I'm sorry, I neither have the time or the inclination to continue this. It's also taking what was/is an interesting thread off topic.

Quite right, I do wish you'd refrain from mentioning your wealth and diverting attention. So anyway, I do believe you were saying to !!!!!!? that you hated people who bragged about their wealth...

    Pray continue.

I'm afraid you'll just have to get used to it. One minute we're having a nice chat about people living beyond their means, the next danny is going off at a tangient (again) about how he owns his place of business. Rather tedious I'm afraid, but there you go.

    We should just ignore him.
