I personally wouldn't bother going to the zoo until they have finished the overhaul(much needed)
We went a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed, most of the area's were empty, and the animals were scarce.
They give you a map when you get there but it doesn't tell you which paths are closed, we had to walk miles to get to where we wanted.

I agree with blackwidowz Dudley zoo has more empty enclosers than animals and very run down,I live about 5 miles away and went there with my grandsons nursey a couple of weeks ago and was shocked to see how it had gone down, it's sad really because we had some great days out there when we were kids.
  • I just printed a ticket for the zoo here.

Cannot comment on the refurb, but we are planning to go. Our daughter likes to see the animals.

On a personal note I used to hate Dudley Zoo. All those concrete cages which deserve to be demolished. However, I watched a TV prorgam which showed how those hidious concrete enclosures are 'protected' as an example of 1930's architecture and cannot not be torn down. This obviously causes complications for the zoo in trying to mix these protected areas with the welfare of their animals and the enjoyment of their visitors.

In my opinion these areas do look run down and I cannot understand why anyone would want to protect a 'concrete object' to the detriment of the zoo.
I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 2010
