getting a new mobile phone after BR?

I'm currently on a 30 day SIM only contract with o2 (who I've been with for years) but my phone has just started playing up. I need to have a reliable phone for work as I'm on call 7 days a week. Does anyone know if Id be able to get a replacement one on contract even though I'm bankrupt? I figured if I'm paying £35 a month anyway it would be simpler to get another contract phone rather than trying to find the cash to pay for one straight off.
Anyone advise?

I think you may have a problem passing the credit check. Could you not get a PAYG mobile? Or get one from ebay?

As others have said until the Br drops off your credit file in 6yrs you'll struggle to pass a credit check......there are places out there that advertise the fact they can "help" people with poor credit ratings get a contract mobile....i've yet to see one that's kept all the promises they make

I have a contract mobile phone still with Orange and i have kept up payments and have not included this in my BR. So i am guessing that i will be able to upgrade when the time comes without them doing another Credit check.
I would be interesting to find out if any who has been made BR has managed to get a contract phone?
Again like the banks im sure there policies will change if they see a gap in the market.
Ok i am recently BR but i think now we are probaly the careful people with money after going through BR.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Quoted for the truth, talk about learning from mistakes, Ive really got on the moneysaving bandwagon now, especially as, if I want anything now I have to save for it. Which in my opinion is not a bad thing."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Hi,
The networks will definately credit check you before giving you a contract phone. As others have pointed out - it will take 6 years for the slate to be wiped totally clean.
As an alternative you could buy a PAYG phone (which are cheaper than sim free phones) and often release the latest handsets 4-6 months after the contract option. You could install your current O2 sim card into it.
Another way is to get your OH or relative/friend to take out a contract in their name and you pay for it.

Upgrading shouldn't be a problem though - I have upgraded twice with 3 since going BR on an existing contract. Interestlingly though, I tried to get broadband with them very recently but I didn't pass the credit check...BCSC Member 70:j

That would be because you dont get credit checked for an upgrade. However they would credit check you for an additional handset or product i.e. broadband.
Unfortunately for Flame7 an upgrade isnt an option as this doesnt come with a handset - only a sim card0 -

Some upgrades come with a handset - might be worth a try, right?!

I think the point is though, that he already has a contract. Isn't it?0
