Problem with DVD Drive

I have an internal dvd re-writable drive on my pc. In the past we have saved home movies to dvd through windows moviemaker with no problem. However when we try now we get the error message "no recordable drive found". Is there anyone out there who can suggest why this might have happened and what I can do about it to get it working again please?
