I hope someone can share their knowledge of car rental in miami with me.
We are flying in to miami and driving down to orlando as its a huge difference in cost. I am wondering how long it takes to collect car once we land at miami.
I have two small children 3 years and 6 months and want to make the journey a smooth as possible.
Can anybody recommend the best rental company for closeness and speedy collection
Many Thanks

Hertz are the nearest to the terminal and sometimes the most expensive.
But the others have plenty of shuttle buses.
Some companies have facilities where you provide the information on line and you use the self service kiosk BUT this is only with direct bookings and not through brokers.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Should I allow and hour or more before we are on the road to orlando0

I went to Miami on Monday and returned yesterday. We hired a car from Alamo, but there were loads of other car rental companies to choose from. The car hire shuttle buses went from straight outside the airport doors, and the Alamo bus went about every ten minutes. There was a bit of a queue once we got there, even though we had booked in advance. We probably waited about twenty minutes, but there were plenty of seats and the office was air conditioned.
All the car hire places seemed to be together, and the shuttle bus ride only lasted a few minutes. Probably best to just book the cheapest!
On the way back there was no wait involved. They just checked the car over as we got out out of it, and we got straight back on the shuttle bus.
You should certainly be on your way to Orlando within the hour.

We did this in April of this year. We were 3 families (6 Ad and 6 kids). We went with Dollar. Shuttle bus pick-up right outside terminal doors. 5 min ride to Car Hire company office.
As mentioned in previous posts, there was a bit of a wait in line in the office itself, but air-con and seats avail for rest of family etc. Speedy check-in once we were being served.
Very easy return, quick and smooth.
I reckon you could be on the road within an hour with luck. We landed at 3.30pm and were on the road by 5.30 (includes Immigration and baggage collection). Got to the outskirts of Orlando by 9ish, and were in our villa by 10pm.
Saved a packet by doing it this way too. The drive up was very easy. Plenty of places to stop for a coffee on way up.
HTH`Save a little money each month, and at the end of the year, you'll be suprised at how little you have.
