How does holiday insurance work .What happens if you need hospital/medical care or need a dentist and you cannot afford to pay and dont have that money in a bank account. Will the insurance sort it out....

Normally, yes.
Some of the cheaper ones (and maybe not only the cheaper ones) may expect you to pay smaller amounts yourself and claim on return, but all should take over major problems on your behalf.0 -
Thanks for answering. You do say smaller amounts you pay and claim on return, would you know what kind of figures we are looking as it could put a dent in you holiday money if needed. Also do you still need to take your E111 card with you if you have travel insurance.Normally, yes.

All the travel insurance I've taken out, including really cheap ones, have a UK medical emergency number which you call, er, in a medical emergency. They then sort out the bill direct with the hospital.
Any other bill though you will have to pay and claim back (such as lost baggage, delay, etc). It's always worth making sure you've got a credit card with you, just in case.0
