This was me with Dr Pepper until a few weeks ago. I'd drink 1.5-2L every day and no other drinks but decided to cut it out completely and already I feel much better for it.

A few years ago I was drinking about 2L every day and cut it out (replacing it with squash and water) for about a year and dropped to a size 10/12! :D Fingers crossed for the same result this time :rotfl:

each can of coke has 13 spoons of sugar in it:eek:

this is what goes through my head when I drink it. I don't have it very often (and it HAS to be full fat - diet coke erugh!) and I don't buy it as it gets drunk too quick  Fortunately I can drink a little and not feel the need for any more but I can see why people get addicted - it's soooooooo nice :obut soooooooo bad for you :o

Best of luck with this. I gave up fizzy drinks at New Years, and now I can take or leave them but it was really hard. It helped me to think of my body as renewing itself every time I drank water, and that it was flushing toxins from my system. It took a long time, but I managed it. I just had a can of Pepsi Max tonight but I shouldn't have done. I feel bad at myself, but I shall try again tomorrow to drink 2 litres of nice cool water.

    All the best,

I used to have a pepsi max addiction, about 10 years ago now lasting for 2 years. I was basicly living off the stuff and having about 2-3L per day every single day, sometimes more. I did sleep well infact! I am sure my body adjusted to it. But withdrawal was so hard! I was kind of lucky in a way, I was in a hospital at the time so lasted about 10 days...before I found the other patients were more then willing to walk out to the shop to pick me up a 500ml bottle of diet coke every other day. Still, was a cut back from the amount I was having.

I guess I found it easier to cut back rather then to cut out. I disliked diet coke really but it was better then nothing so it was not too hard to cut that one out completly.

I now probably have about 300-500mls of pepsi max per week! And thats if I feel like it (not every week). I prefer water!! It did take me a long tme to get to that stage though- I had to train myself to drink water at first but once you can do that, adding more isn't so bad.

I'd say to anyone trying to cut out diet/normal cola, try going cold turkey if you feel you can manage it, it would proably take a fortnight to feel fine again but you will feel fine again. If not, try cutting back as much as possible and then have an emergency can every other day or further apart if you can manage it. Don't go mad at yourself if you drink the emergency can or slip up, its far better you face it, pick yourself back up and carry on where you left off as early on as you can (the longer you leave it the harder it is).

It can be done though, and the first 2 weeks are the worst, its easier after that.

Pepsi Max, Diet Coke and etc are all fine btw, but everything in moderation and if you feel your being controlled by the bottle, can or glass of the stuff and that bothers you, maybe it would be a good time to change.
