Trains from Yorkshire to South coast.. expensive :(

Hey all, was wondering if anyone could help.
I've read up on how to get the cheapest train fares (from the newsletter / this very site) but still finding it expensive to travel. I'm travelling from Bradford to Littlehampton approx twice a month, usually wanting to set off Friday afternoon for the weekend (returning Sunday). If I can't book in advance, the saver return is £98.20.
Booking in advance is usually only available when not travelling out on a Friday, and more often than not it's an unplanned journey so I'm never left with any option other than buying the saver return.
One option is coach Bradford-London, which is usually £10 each way, then a train London -> littlehampton which is £26 open return. But the coach takes over 5 hours, total journey over 7.. a bit too much really..
Has anyone got any other ideas on how to save money on this journey when booking in advance is often not an option?
Thanks,
Janine

Quite a lot of £1 each way Bradford/London coach fares at this time on
https://www.mirror.co.uk/nationalexpress
You can also find £3 one way single fares from Littlehampton to London on rail website https://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.co.uk but do remember to type in
Littlehampton to London Victoria (and do NOT use London All Stations).(Cheaper still of course if you have a railcard)
Those two hints may save you a few pounds but you are right it is a very expensive journey when you cannot commit in advance. Others on this forum may have other hints for you. Presumably you have checked Leeds Bradford to London Gatwick flights and they too are as expensive (if available)... Good Luck0
