How easy is it to get a work permit for australia.

Ive had enough. I work in the construction industry (mainly housing). The industry is collapsing and i feel its time to get out. My friend emmigrated to australia in Feb and said he will put me up. Im now thinking of giving it a go. Is it easy to get a work permit once out there on a travel permit.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

If you are under 30, single and no kids the best option might be a working holiday visa (12 months). This gives you the chance to try Australia before you decide.
You could then try and get a skilled regional visa (under 45's) without having to leave.
In general working Visas needed to be applied for outside Australia.
If you have a proper trade you should easily get in.
If you are over 45 you may struggle.
Its generally not a good idea to go on a tourist visa & work illegally.

Apart from having better weather, paying less tax & enjoying a better standard of living I can't think of any reasons why you would want to go.

What makes you think things are any better out there? I know you subscribe to the "rip-off Britain" philosophy but we live in a World economy these days.
    Can I help?
