Thanks for this review I was thinking about doing the flight to Krakow via Ryan Air due to a friend telling me how much they enjoyed a five day trip there and visited both camps and the salt mine. They too said how lovely Krakow is and would recommend a visit there.

    You are welcome.
Another tip is there are some great guides called 'in your pocket' guides, you can buy them online here... http://www.inyourpocket.com/ BUT you may well find them free when you get there. We got the 'Krakow in your pocket' free from our hotel lobby.
Oh, and the people all spoke English very well.
  • I heard the salt mines were very good, we didnt get a chance to go there, but yes I would most certainly go back again. After a bit of searching, I found that they have an excellent zoo as well, so perhaps if you have smaller children it would be well worth looking into that. Speaking to a couple of English blokes who were in our hotel at the same time, they went to Warsaw and were very disappointed in it, mostly concrete jungle and quite disorienteering. And yes, english was very well spoken in most places, although we did go into a few small shops in back streets and although they were incredibly cheap for bakery snacks, it was all done in sign language :D Even the drunks who we met in the park were so pleasant when they were begging at no time did we feel uncomfortable. I've now booked a trip to London and am going in a months time or so, and working it out, it's almost a 1/3 more expensive just to get and stay there than the trip to poland was:( Pity they didnt have a christmas market like Prague, it would be a brilliant experience

It would be cheaper if you did it through escapetopoland.com and then bought your own air fare. I flew from Stansted.

yes you're right, although I used www.escape2poland.com think theyre slightly different companies ;) Email them for a price, they will come back with the best deals they can find for flights and where to get them online :) They organise all you need, the taxi from the airport was first class and worked out at about £12 each way and their tours were very well organised

I just checked Ryan Air for flights to Krakow and can get 0p flights with charges of about £78 for 2 going in November.

I know it would be cheaper to put a package together myself but I would prefer a specialist to do it for me:beer:
  • I priced it seperately before I booked, and theres very little difference. Just as a by the way, the camps are actually free admission, but without a guide it wouldnt be as interesting, they have stories that arent on boards. And dont think i'll just tag on at the back of one going through, they stop talking and say in a very loud voice, just let those people past and dont start till you go away :)

Can anyone at least correct the dreadful spelling mistake in the title of this thread. It's embarrassing and sounds more like a town in East Anglia. Surely nobody pronounces it this way.
