Hi all is there any consensus on the best external hard drive brand?
I just want to buy one off the shelf, no faffing - its for Windows XP - mainly storing photos and itunes, maybe 500GB with USB 2.0?
Been looking at Freecom, Western Digital, Seagate and Maxtor and not sure which way to go?
cheers

Taking advice from here last year, we bought a Western Digital. It was on special at the time from ebuyer. We are very happy with it, and as a non-techy couple we've both found it easy enough to use.
Can't say if it's any better than another make as we've not tried any others but a techy friend told us it was a good choice.0 -
I got this one for Christmas http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-FreeAgent-Desktop-External-7200RPM/dp/B000NZOBYS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215722140&sr=8-5
and I am well pleased with it. (Even though I paid £69) for it. The people on Amazon who give it poor ratings do do because they have a problem with the backup software. That's no concern to me because I simply drag and drop and that works great.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
