Hi
I'm thinking of getting the Nokia N95 8GB phone on a pay monthly contract from Vodafone. This phone has wifi so i called Vodafone to ask if it can be connected to your home wifi connection for free internet surfing, they said no it can't as wifi phones use a different internet protocol BUT then he said uhhh maybe it can if you use a third party application but he didn't clarify further. So is it really possible to connect the N95 to your home wifi for free internet surfing and if so, how? Also can you use Firefox or Opera Mini to surf or are you forced to use the phones web browser?
Thanks

I have an n95, and it picks up any wifi in the area- I use it at home or work by entering the password or WEP key, and even picks up the free wifi in places like McDonalds or service stations. It also remebers the passwrod/WEP key, so one I get home, it picks that up and then switches automatically to my work network without any problem or prompts for passwords.
I have only ever used the inbuilt browser, never tried to download any thrid party software, but works fine for me.
It comes installed with a google mail application that is stand-alone and very useful.
Apparently, if you have the Wireless LAN scanning application running it drains the battery quicker, but I charge mine every evening and have never had a problem.0 -
You can use your home wifi to browse the internet, i had the same phone on vodafone and worked great.0
