Hi
I've been unable to get onto the internet for the past 24 hours.
i rang viegin media who said that it wasn't there fault,
but told me to switch of zone alarm, which i did, and hey presto internet came back on.
Put zone alarm back on and hey presto no internet.
the lad said it had something to do with a download called kb951-748 it is conflicting with internet.
I dont' want to shut down zone alarm each time i go onto the internet, has anyone any ideas as to what i should do.
thanks

At the moment only the company who produce zonealarm can answer that, the update to windows is seen as a critical one so either they will update za or produce a new version.
Personally I am very security concious and no one else has access to my machine so just use the windows firewall behind a router firewall, but check out others such as comodoclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
IF you look in C:\WINDOWS\ you will find various folders in blue such as $NtUninstallKB951698$. If you can't see these then you need to change your folder options to show hidden files and folders and system files and folders. This $NtUninstallKB951698$ folder applies to KB951698. Find the folder for your download, then open the folders within it and run spuninst.exe to uninstall that particular update. Hopefully (if that is what is causing the conflict) this will sort your problem.0

Zonealarm have an update and instructions available on their website. Once you have moved the slider to medium you should be able to download the updated version of ZA. You can then return all security options to normal.

simple answer, turn security filter on zone alarm to moderate, go on internet, download new zone alarm and get it to update your old one, let it install then you can put zone alarm back to normal full protection and it works.
this is the non teckie im an idiot way of seeing it after trying this morning to sort it and reading the posts re the prob.0 -
