super smash brothers game on wii will not work. known problem?

I bought the super smash brothers game for the wii lalt week as it had just been released, from Game.
But wen I played it on my Wii it would not work, although other games were fine.

I tok it back to Game sayin git was faulty and asking for a replacement but they said that some older Wii's would not play it as it was the first dual layered disc? game.
They gave me my money back as said it was pointless trying another and left it at that.

However I would like to get the game working on my console and don't see why just because I bought my Wii when it first came out means I now can't play dual layered disc games,

Can anyone advise as I tried to find a contact number for nintendo but just keep going round in circles and spending a fortune on the phone.

We got ours soon after release (just before christmas 05) and it plays smash bros fine.

Given one of the things with consoles is that you don't have to worry about if your machine is good enough to play any given game (unlike PC ganes) I would be very suprised if that were really the problem, or if, for some bizarre reason it is I would expect Nintendo to be exchanging any with the problem

Nintendo in the US are repairing Wii's that don't work with this game. Not sure about the UK. It is caused by dust or tobacco smoke on the lens. Because the disk is duel layered it is extra sensitive.
