Parking Fine

Not sure if is the right sub-board for my topic but if not I do apologise as I'm new on here

I received a letter yesterday saying that I received a fixed penalty notice for parking in a loading only bay. It said that the amount owed was £70 as I failed to pay the reduced fee of 50% within the initial 14 day period.

This is the first I have heard of any parking ticket so as you can tell I'm not happy.

I understand I must have parked illegally and will pay the £35 no problem, but surely they carn't expect me to pay the full £70 without any prior knowledge and therefore no opportunity to pay the £35

Any advice would be much appreciated Ta

All you can do is tell them what you have told us and see if they will let you pay the reduced charge.

I guess it will be difficult to convince them, as they will have heard this many times before!

Try ringing them up and asking for the reduced rate and when the original ticket was issued.

Unless it was issued by the council then I dont think it is a legal ticket there are loads of companies that hand out tickets and they arnt even legal meaning you dont need to pay since they arnt enforceable.

    Who was it issued by??

Before you do anything with it, take some advice from the helpful members at https://www.pepipoo.com. Don't take it as read that the ticket was correctly issued or =that the bay is legal.

I've moved this to the Motoring Board :)

There are some websites you may find useful under section 6 of the Popular Motoring Websites thread.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
