Help - Barclaycard 2.9% Offer

Can someone tell me more about the 2.9 % offer. I currently have a Barclaycard & last month was unable to pay off the balance! Is it just a case of phonong up & asking for it? Their interest charges are crippling! :'(

  • It is 2.9% for life of balance on Balance Transfers, with a 2% fee.  This is very useful if you need to pay the balance off over more than a year, otherwise there are better deals out there.

You can't just ask them to convert your purchases debt though.  You would somehow have to pay off the balance first, and then Balance Transfer from another card to get the 2.9%.

Do you have another credit card with enough credlit available to clear the Barclaycard?  Doesn't really matter what the interest rate is because you would only have if for a short time.

If you do, then clear the Barclaycard using the other card, wait a while to make sure the Barclaycard is in fact clear.  I usually either check on line or ring them to ensure it is clear, and that if I now balance transfer there will be no purchase interest to pay, just the 2.9% on the balance transfer.

All you then need to do is to pay off the previous card by balance transferring to the Barclaycard.

You may have a small amount of interest on the other card, but it shouldn't be very much.
  • Thanks for the info - I understand now! :-*
