Not many bad ones in that category to be honest, mondeo as you already have one is still near the top of the list, as would be the vectra(very cheap at present) and definately the passat/octavia.

I think the 1.5dci renault diesel at 100 or 106 hp is a little mild for the scenic having got this engine in a megane estate.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • Volvo V70 or BMW 530D would be my choice, not forgetting Mercedes E-class 220CDi.

    Hi,

My partner and I are looking to pool resources and trade our 2 cars in for a better more economical family car. I currently have an 03 plate Ford Fiesta, and he has an 02 plate Mondeo. We want to get something that's a diesel, in a low tax bracket, economical to run, and that's big enough to fit us, the baby (and pram, and all his other stuff) and the dog (German Shepherd) in the boot. It needs to be biggish but not gigantic (so I can park it...)
    Any ideas?

Also, does anyone have any links to the insurance banding, and tax brackets for different makes/models of cars?

    Thank you
    YC

Hi, I would suggest a VW Passat tdi estate, 50 to the gallon, good spec very reliable, good resale value, solid performance, safe and lots of space!

Audi A4 estate 1.9diesel-not the roomiest in the back seat for older children/adults, but the BEST car I've ever had (always had astras/novas/vectra)

    I *heart* my Audi! :D

And essentially the only difference between this and an Octavia estate is the badge, and the fatc it has less room in the back and a smaller boot and is more expensive.

Much as I like Audis (a few years back we had a very nice Audi 80) I just can't see the point in buying them when there's so little differnece between an Audi, a VW and a Skoda.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Personally I would prefer the Octavia.
