Most companies use Transax to process & authorise cheques. Basically if the cheque bounces, Transax reimburses the retailer. Perhaps they thought too many cheques in too short a time could be a problem? Code 004 probably means to contact them, but they didn't know to do this. Or perhaps it's a big conspiracy to stop cheque use? ;-)

  • Hi, Code 4 means that your cheque has been declined from Transax.
Most business use Transax as I do. Most of the time if your account is in order your code 4 become code 1 after you have spoken to them on the phone regarding your cheque.
If you have made many chq in 1 day, it is probable that if the first one is not clear yet they will not accept the others especially for big amounts.

Contact this number : 0800 110 999 and speak to them regarding your cheques.

    How does it work?
You want to purchase something between or over the amount of the chq garantee card.
The retailer will call Transax which would agree with the transaction (code1) or not (code4).
It is at the retailer discretion to allow the customer to speak to them in the shop...
Also, Transax might want to speak to the customer to find out why they should process the transaction or not. In that case, the retailer has no option than giving the phone to the person.

I wil post more info today regarding transax.... :rotfl:
