i have been quoted an extra £355 to change my SDP car insurance to business use. i think this sounds a lot-or is it just me? has anybody any advice or experience. i am registered as self employed.

Hi ... can't give you as specific an answer as maybe you are looking for - but there has always been a higher charge for business use - based on what i think is the assumption that you will drive more - never sure if that is always correct.
There are also a lot of posts on here which relate to changes in car insurance - where the original insurer proves to be the "wrong place" for the change involved - usually related to the small car being changed to a bigger one - that may play a part in what has happened to you - SDP fine with your existing Insurer - business use NOT fine, huh?
Suggestion (until maybe another member can be more specific): Check out some of the comparison sites based on business use for your car and see how they compare - will allow you to judge what options are open to you now or at renewal.
Hope this helps ...If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,
they can change the face of the world.

It would depend on your occupation i.e self employed what? also what class of business use i.e 1,2 or 3?
On the face of it though it certainly sounds a little excessive0 -
