Unlikely that it would be worth the cost of a repair with the low prices of new printers.
If you were happy with your Canon and its running costs why not go for another ( I believe they are one of the cheapest inkjet brands to run ).
Or if you only want black and white printing, this laser printer:

was recommended in a thread yesterday.

The paper contacts with a small lever, can you see it? does it move? has it been dislodged? Is it stuck? It must move freely as this is the paper low sensor.

I'm in the same situation with a Canon ip4000. It happened once and I managed to get it working again after a lot of effort, but it's just stopped again and I can't be ars** messing again.

I am now VERY VERY fed up of inkjets. They only seem to last me a year or two and then die, or the print head gets blocked up etc. Ordered the Samung Laser printer and waiting for that as I realised I only ever print black and white text anyway, and the toner refills seem cheap, especially given they're supposed to print 3000 pages. Ebay seems to be a good source of cheap toner.

I print pictures once in a blue moon so guess if I need to print a picture I can use one of those online photo printing services or something.

My last Canon inkjet, an i550, met a similar fate
