Car hire in Turkey

Hi
I have 2 questions:
1, We went to Turkey in 2006 and would like to go back. Last time we were given the impresssion it was not a good idea (from a safety perspective/terrorism point of view). Has anyone hired a car and encountered problems?
and
2, Is it cheaper to hire a car once there or to do it before we go?

We hired a car earlier this year and there were no problems and we booked it from here and picked the car up at the airportKeep the Faith:cool:0
