Also forgot to mention is don't get all excited and buy loads of 'stock' else your house will very quickly resemble a warehouse. OK if it does get shifted but if you're stuck looking at boxes of unsold junk after six months then it'll get you down!

Please can I second that. I bought a line of items, the first few went well so I stocked up..just as the fad crashed and burned. Had overflowing cupboards for years until I took the plunge and offloaded them all onto the local charity shop..sigh, I'll never learn!

Hehe, doing the same myself now Soolin! I don't think the Chester charity shops can believe their luck!
  • Lots of good advice here. I think it would be very foolhardy to begin your eBay career trying to make money from high value electricals. Scammers are likely to target you while genuine buyers might avoid you because they fear you may be a scammer. I'd advise starting with low value items which are easy to deal with, and build up a good feedback score and some experience before you even think about things like TVs. I would also say that it's important with things like catalogue returns, especially if you're new to eBay selling, to photograph the item yourself: don't use a stock photo. This avoids potential copyright problems and also reassures the customer that you have the item in your possession and that it matches the description. Afaik you're allowed to link to other sites with further information on the product.
