Discount at the Ritz in London ?

Does anyone out there know how to get a discount off a room at the Ritz hotel in London? I'm looking to stay there for a couple of nights in October for my wifes 60th (it's a dream of hers to stay there) but the costs are steep. A friend of mine who runs a corporate hospitality company and can usually get a discount with just about any hotel tried with absolutely no success. I'll still take my OH no matter what the cost, because she's worth it, but the £300+ a night no matter how luxurious still seems a bit of a rip off to me. Anybody any ideas?
