Dustbin lid bubble fountain

Somewhere once I saw a brilliant simple instruction thing on how to turn a simple plastic dustbin lid into a fountain/ bubble pool.
Anybody seen/done/got a link?
I bought two bargain lid from BnQ at 25p each today and can't wait to get started. Got a pump. Should I dig a bucket under or will the lid be enough?
Anybody?

  • Yes you can do this quite simply.
    1. Dig a hole, line with sand, put a large bucket, planter etc in. Make sure it's level.
    2. Put in the pump, you may need to stand it on a brick,
    3. Place some form of support for the lid, ie 4 crossed sticks, quite strong.
    4. Make a hole in the lid (to accomodate the long spout of the pump ) in the centre. You may have to cut off the handle if it has one.
    5. Upturn the lid and place over the bucket with the pump sticking out a bit. It should be just below ground level.
    6. test the pump and adjust the water flow to suit.
    7. Fill the lid with pebbles to disguise it.
The flow of water should drain back into the bucket.
You can adapt this to a free -standing out -of the-ground fountain too using a decorative container such as a half barrel.
Make sure the electric cord is safe in a piece of tubing or pipe.Keep the water clear with a bit of bleach.
    Hope this helps.
