I booked a flight today the cost was £12.99 each way the cost with taxes ended up £73.56 I paid by my debit card and Ryanair charged me £8 for doing this, they broke it down saying its £4 per person each way. One transaction on my card and I am charged £4 each way??? This doesn't sound right to me is that legal??? or just another rip off ryanair tactic??

The Halifax Easycash account comes with a Visa Electron which doesn't attract an extra fee - the way to beat the charges is to get one to use specifically with Ryanair.
 (I've moved this to the Travel Board ) 0 ) 0

And this was after Michael O'Leary was saying on the radio this morning "The price you see with Ryanair is the price you pay" - unless you are taking luggage, paying by credit or debit card etc!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Yawn, yawn. Another person thinks they've been ripped off by Ryanair.
Read a few of the previous posts on this subject. You had the choice to pay this charge or not. Just like you and everybody else has the choice to take bags or not and all the other things that are not included in the headline fare.
They are running a (very successful) business which is there to make money. There methods may not be to everyone's taste but it is not a "rip-off"0

I usually stand up for ryanair but I do think charging a £4 pp debit card charge ew is taking the p.
Yes I know it is in the t and c but IMO it should be in the upfront cost as most people will have no choice unlike the baggage charge0

it is misleading and a rip off because how else are you supposed to pay for your fares .........do they cheques or cash?I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

If it bothers you that much then use a different airline. You'll probably end up paying loads more but at least you've avoided the £4pp charge eh?:rolleyes:0

When comparing the prices always take the booking screens to the final screen for totals.
Compare against the other airlines again going to the final screen and doing it like for like.
I don't like the charges either for the cards but the final price is the only one to go by.
Jet2 wanted £7 for me paying by credit card to go to Pisa, this was more than 10% of the price.
I checked other airlines and the dates/times/prices were better on Jet2.
In the end I used my debit card for a small saving but £70 return to Pisa isn't all that bad.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
 & Choo Choo for trains!!0

If charges are hidden away until the very last page then it's deliberately misleading. If the charges are mentioned for the whole world to see when the actual flights are being booked then fair enough. They're not, and it's for a very good reason.
I just booked with Monarch, and the front page announces in all it's glory that the price for the flights is £xxx.xx, nice big red font. Last page and you then realise that you are actually paying £100 more than the lovely big red £xxx.xx figure.
I paid it as it was still the cheapest, but I have nothing but contempt for them now.0

To be honest us paying 0.01 pence to fly is a rip-off in reverse. There is a much higher cost to Ryanair than 0.01 pence. Maybe someone should fight on Ryanair's behalf telling everyone how the general public are ripping them off.0

Ryanair get lots of free publicity from places like this and end up getting bookings at full fare as a result from people who aren't able to fly on Wednesday from Prestwick in October to save a few quid.
I would say I would never fly Ryanair because I think they are truly horrible..... But if there was no other choice if it was going to be many hundreds more then I probably would.
I think they take their 'you are scum for flying on our planes' approach a bit far though.0
