in Techie Stuff
Hope this is in the right place. I can spend up to £300. Not a techie, but not hopeless either. Looking for a really good camera to take piccies of the family mostly, views & wide lense stuff and would no doubt make use of a zoom. My friend swears by Fujji but they don't seem to feature much in the which reports. Biggest priority is picture quality, probably only other criteria is not too heavy. Am just confused by the enormous range about, any help welcomed. Thanks

At that sort of money, you are almost in D-SLR territority and you'll get much better pictures, better lenses etc, I'd suggest looking at the Canon EOS 350D, 400D and 450D, and the similar Nikons.
If you don't want to move to SLRs, still a top notch compact can be had for that sort of money, I'd personally stick to Canon, Nikon or Panasonic for these.

As ever, I'd recommend a Nikon D40.
Can't we have a stickied "what camera" thread?
Seems to come up several times a week.0 -
I agree with Marty J again on this.
Nikon D40. Excellent entry level DSLR used by amateurs and Pros.0 -
You can get a refurbished Fujifilm Finepix S9600 D-SLR direct from Fuji for £160, although it looks like they're out of stock at the moment.
But just look at the reviews...

I'll just mention that Canon's range of DSLRs is excellent.0
