Constitution advice please.

Hi all.
I've searched the forum and nothing has jumped out at me as being relevant.

I'm in a community wind band (8 year olds up to retired people) and we're aiming to go on tour next summer to Paris. Many of the families with people in the band are on support etc and we really want to do as much fundraising as possible to pay for the trip.

We've created a "Friends of..." group, and have already registered ourselves with the small lotteries commision or whatever it's called so we can do caollections and raffles and things. We were avoiding making a constitution as we are not interested in a hugely longwinded document. But now it seems that we'll have to get one for most of the things that are available to us.

We have a meeting arranged with a lady from fundraising in the local county borough to help us write a SHORT constitution, but I think we are meant to turn up with one already sketched out.

Does anyone have some advice on where I could maybe find some formats? Or would each one be very different to the next?

You should get some help here.

alternatively google cvs plus your local area / city which will find your local Council for Voluntary Service, and they may have similar, plus local help on fundraising.

The Welsh Office of the charity commision have produced a template for constitutions for small organisations. Click on the following link and then under guidance there is a link entitled "constitution for small groups"

I've found this a useful starting point for groups as it's in plain English.
