Hi, this is my first time so please bear with me. You need to contact your local tax office as you can claim tax relief for the year 2002/2003.
I have contacted mine and was sent a form (CTC11) you need to sign this and send it back. When I called the tax office they informed me that you can claim even if you earned less than £6,000 in that year.
The cut off point to claim for 2002/2003 is Jan 2009, so its not too late.0 -
Sorry for the delay getting back re this, I didn't call them straight away and then couldn't find this post
.
As the poster above said, you need CTC11 form. I called the local tax office and they took mines & OH national insurance number to see if I'd received the 'child tax credit' which with effect 2004 was lumped in with tax credits. I found that I've not had it, neither has OH, so they're sending the form out so I can claim 2003, however they say as 2001 & 2002 is over 6 yrs old I can't claim. I verbally disputed this and have been told to send a letter in with my CTC11 form.
How can they not pay out what is due to me as a tax payer and parent (inland revenue knew I was both as I paid tax and claimed tax credits from 2001). It's piddling me off that I wouldn't be getting this money had my friend not mentioned it to me  yet I currently have Inland Revenue chasing me for money for overpayment of tax credits (incidentally, if I had stall them for 6 yrs can I tell them they can't have it??):rotfl:
Will let you know how I get on... now I must figure out how to 'subscribe' to this post so I find it next time!0 -
The cut off point to claim for 2002/2003 is Jan 2009, so its not too late.
How does the cut off point work? Is it the same for all children born within the time period, or for children born earlier (ie 1990s) is it too late now?
I have a friend who is really struggling at the moment and she could be eligible so I am very interested to find out more.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0
