Whole of market boiler comparison possible?

I recently checked out the energy rating of the Ferroli Optima 901 boiler that I inherited when we moved into our current house a couple of years ago. I haven't been able to find an exact match but the Ferroli optima 900 is coming up as below E-rated (70% efficiency) on the comparison website http://www.sedbuk.com/ - it's also non-condensing which is a big no-no. Blooming thing keeps breaking down too.
So I'm thinking it's going to be time to replace in the next year or so. I have no idea how to go about identifying the right boiler/installer. I'm assuming that anyone I get out to do a quote will be tied in to providing a particular type of boiler but what I want is a 'whole of market' comparison to find what is best in my particular house. Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I would go about getting quotes from people who would really recommend the best thing rather than the thing they want to sell? And any ideas at all how much it might cost in total? We're in an old 4 bed detatched house BTW.
Any thoughts on what it might save in money terms would also be most welcome (need a sales pitch for DH). We're currently paying £130 a month by DD :eek:
