Getting everything from my old PC onto my new Medion PC

I have a very old, slow and unstable PC with Windows 98 se.I have installed AVG anti virus and Mozilla Firefox for browsing due to pop ups etc.
I have just purchased a very good deal with an Aldi Medion 8385 PC with Windows XP.It has bundled software, including e-trust anti virus. All I would like to do is transfer all my settings in Firefox (remembered paswords etc) All my Outlook express folders (adresses, emails etc) and other files. The problem is, I have viruses stored in the virus vault of my AVG anti virus and don't want to transfer anything accross to my new PC.Is the e-trust anti virus better than AVG?
Also, someone has got hold of my email address and is using it to spam which is resulting in me getting hundreds of "mail delivery failure" emails I can't get rid of.The only thing I can do is filter them in Mailwasher.
I just want a fresh start without the rubbish from the old PC creeping in.
Thanks.
Ian.

this will do outllok express for free
http://www.outlook-express-backup.com/
trial version was FULLY working (30 days) last time I tried
those mail delivery failure emails are from someone elses machine that is infected , I get loads of them and my PC is clean !! it is trying to get you to open the attachment (a Virus !)
the etrust software is a time limited version..I would load AVG fresh on the new machine and Sygate free personal firewallEx forum ambassador

I try and restore in my new PC what I backed up on the old one for Outlook Express with Outlook Express backup and it doesn't seem to want to read the file.I backed up "ALL" in backup but am not sure how I go about restoreing "ALL" in my new PC as there seem to be so many files in Outlook backup.Bear in mind I am transfering from Windows 98 to XP.0

For Outlook Express the easiest way is to
create a folder in My Documents called 'email' (or whatever you want to call it).
on the old machine, search for *.dbx
then search for *.wab
copy these files to cd / internet / whatever backup device you're using
copy the .dbx files into newly created folder.
create your email account in Outlook Express
then > tools > options > maintenance > store folder and change to your new folder
copy the .wab file into c:\docs and settings\%username%\app data\microsoft\address book
and off you go0
