bath mixer tap

Im slowly but surely getting all the jobs done on Mrs Phatbears list, however one things has got me stumped.

I have to install a mixer tap, an all in one jobbie so one spout, however under the bath i seem to have one 15mm pipe and one 22mm pipe. To date I've managed to find 1 tap which fulfills my needs but at over £300 the little bears and Mrs Phatbear will have to make do with showers.

So does anyone know of a cheaper option, which will put me in Mrs Phatbears good books.

Thanks for now

  • Although the pipe may be in 15mm the existing tap connector should still be 22mm with a reducer on to the 15mm pipe. It would suggest that the cold tap is mains fed which means that to conform to water regulations any mixer tap will need to be the bi-flow type or should incorporate a double-check valve onto the cold supply to prevent contamination of mains water.

I'm not exactly sure why you think you have a problem

The existing tap connectors will probably fit your new taps anyway.... they aren't different size nuts are they ?? the nuts are usually the same ...the tap threads are the same ...its just the pipes that differ.

If they don't then you need one of these for the hot tap...

and one of these for the cold.
Items shown are in bags of 25, but they are available at B&Q individually.

These fittings are also available in push fit/hep2O fittings as well.
Make sure you fit an isolating valve on both pipes as per water regs.

its not the logistics of fitting the tap i have a problem with its actually getting the bleeding thing.

As i said i need a single stem mixer tap, these are plentiful for kitchens and basins etc but can I find one for a bath, oooooh no, thats my problem.

  • So you only have 1 hole in your bath...is this correct?
