Hi, I live in the North East and have won tix to T In the Park; not ever having been there before I wondered what were the nearest hotels to the festival at Kinross would be or where to try further out (although I know I may be pushing my luck getting anything near now with it being at the weekend!) Any help gratefully received!

Hi there,
There is a travel lodge just along the road at the service station, which will be entirely booked up, however the first year we were there our tent was washed out and we turned up on the night at the travel lodge and loads of people had not turned up for their rooms so we got one. Might be worth a try.
However the second year we were not going to risk rain again, but couldn't afford a hotel. What we did was take the car, fold down the back seats and load up with duvets and pillows and slept there. You are not strictly allowed to do this, but we never saw a soul all night and woke up clean dry and ready to go again.
Enjoy - is a fantastic festival!0 -
I live about 10 miles from the site, and you're right - not likely to get anything in the Kinross area (there's not much to start with!).
I'd suggest trying one of these three in Glenrothes - it's about 12 miles / 25 minute drive away (though will be longer this weekend with traffic). When I looked just now they all had rooms:
Travelodge - Wetherlodge (attached to a Wetherspoons) - Express by Holiday Inn
Wetherlodge is the cheapest, and most convenient if you're using public transport - it's right next to Glerothes bus station. Citylink will be running shuttle buses to TITP which will call in Glenrothes, so it would be dead handy if you're not driving. Click here for the bus timetables.
If you are coming by public transport, get the train to Markinch and then a bus or taxi to Glenrothes from there. There is a station called "Glenrothes with Thornton" but the trains are more frequent to Markinch, and the bus connections are better from there.
Oh, and be prepared for mud - the rain's been awful up here all week. But have a great time - I'm jealous!0
