in Credit cards
Originally this card was called RBS Advanta, when in late 2003, I applied for favourite shops to be added to get a discount.
Such as Tescos Morrisons etc.
So that when i used credit card i got a discount off my spend.
But remember reading on this site that cashback had now been stopped. So i stopped using it, however accidentally used card last month and on current statement ive earnt cashback.
Can any one explain the difference between its cashback and favourite shop policy?
So i just rang them, after a call which probably cost more than my cash back, basically the chap on customer services (in uk) didnt know much!
But said favourite shops still active.
I asked how much % said after long wait would get someone to call me
Any one know what the disc is, or am I better of using my Amex card paying 1%
Cheers

No. But I'm just about to take possession of one, so I'd be interested to know the answer.0 -
About a year ago I got a cashback credit of around £25. I haven't got a clue why though since I had only used it to do a BT and a small purchase(<£25) after the 0% period had come to an end. I did not bother to ask Mint why and just kept my head down until I spent it. I think that Mint arejust prone to making mistakes of this type so I have kept my Mint card going just in case I get another cashback0

I used to have a Mint card but cancelled it when they withdrew cashback. I did notice on my final statement that favourite shops appeared to be continuing but I didn't enquire about it because I had already decided to get a Morgan Stanley card paying 2%. The favourite shop scheme only gave 1% cashback in selected shops. I don't know what the rate is now.0

I have had one RBS Advanta Card and 2 MINT Cards and I don't recall ever hearing of a feature called "Favourite Shops". My Advanta card was used as my day to day card for purchases so I think I would have known about it. My 2 MINT cards have been used for stoozing so I don't use them for purchases ... but I think I would have noticed the term. I have also just looked at the MINT website and can find no mention of "favourite shops" so it would look to me as if they don't do it. Doing a site search on their website for the word "favourite" gets no matches. That could also explain why their customer services people seem to know nothing about it.
Mint website Card Benefits page is here. No mention of cashback or favourite shops http://www.mint.co.uk/credit_cards01.asp?id=CREDIT_CARDS/BENEFITS

There must be different sets of Ts & Cs going about for the MINT card then, because my statement makes no mention of that at all. I have just checked it: both pages - back and front. Strange.
