No sound when changing sound source

Guys,
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy Z2S soundcard and also on-board sound which can be selected to supply sound to the HDMI port on my motherboard.
I use the sound properties option to select SB for usual music etc, and then change to Realtek rear output which routes the sound to the HDMI so I can watch footage on my big telly.
I also have iTunes running in the background.
The problem is that when I switch audio source, iTunes doesn't pick up this change and I have to shut it down and re-open iTunes to hear anything - which is a bit annoying to be honest.
Any suggestions or is this something to live with ?
Thanks in advance

I would say this is something to live with. Unless your going to recode iTunes I cant see a way around it.
If it works when you restart iTunes then its a problem with iTunes not monitoring the audio destination constantly, which would be a programming fault.Rules, Rules, Rules .....0 -
Makes a lot of sense, cheers.
I wonder if there's any hacks out there ... actually as I type this I'm thinking yeah just live with it hehe0 -
hmm turns out this happens in Windows Movie Maker as well .. so I guess unless there's an option to choose your sound source within the software, a reload is always gonna be on the cards.0

Multiple sound cards has always been a pain for windows and windows apps. as far as I've experienced.
I suppose the assumption is that people will only ever use one at a time.
Another vote for "just live with it, unfortunately, or use something other than iTunes that supports multiple sound cards - maybe winamp, according to this thread:
