When to make the SBT?

I note the tips pages suggest arranging 'super balance transfers' at the application stage (to avoid charges incurred by using credit card cheques etc.)

However, the Virgin Card (and I assume other MBNA cards are the same) only refers to balance transers from other cards during the online registration process. What if I want to make a transfer from a bank account to the card?

Is it done by phone/on the paper application forms later?

Hi, I asked the very same question when I applied for a Virgin card a few weeks ago. You can't do a SBT on application as you have found out. Wait for the agreement form they send you about a week after application. There is a slip attached to the reply envelope on which you can do a SBT. It asks for details of the account you want to SBT to and the amount. You can only SBT 95% of your credit limit BTW. I found Virgin/MBNA's T&C's a bit vague re: charges for SBT's but I wasn't charged, this was confirmed by an adviser over the phone prior to the transfer though just in case.
