True, but it has nothing to do with what we were talking about.caveat_emptor wrote: »Please pass this information on to the . . . shareholders who are selling B&B shares for any price they can get.
Which isn't necessarilly true. That's all I was pointing out, not that B & B was a good investment.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Not to mention the fact that a short position requires such a large purchase to realise the gains on the downturn of a company's shares.bristolleedsfan wrote: »U seem to be forgetting the volume of NR shares that were being bought right up to the day they were delisted as many people thought they would make money on them.

The value will go up - people just have to look on it as a very long term investment.
One of the problems these days is a lot of people just look at something as a way to make a quick killing. Buying houses is such an example. People don't seem to look on them as homes anymore, just something to make money on at some stage.
We have lived in our house for 18 years now - its nice that its gone up in value (even though its come down some) but its not going to be for sale for years so how much it is worth is totally irrelevant.I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.

Time to get out if you haven't already done so:
B&B's shares are also trading well below their 55p rights price - they closed on Friday at 47.75p - despite speculation that they could attract a bidder. The Share Centre is urging private investors to sell even at these depressed levels as the market could get worse.
James Hamilton, banking analyst at Numis Secuirities said the market is 'almost certain to continue getting worse'. He believes all British banks could make losses next year as the housing gloom spreads to other industries.Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

OK - but getting back to the start of this thread - do we now get the money out and put into another savings scheme, or stay put?0 -
How do you know the saving scheme in the company you go into will be safe?
I would have chosen A&L as our mortgage is with them and I would have been wrong. Others are going the same way so.... all you out there with your crystal balls - please tell me where my money is safe before I move it.I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.

Have you seen news today? Santander are to make a bid for A & L, the share price has gone up 50% because of it. They're as safe as any other bank. Like you say, there's no way of knowing; the best any of us can do is stay below the £35k.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0
