    Worth a try. But do remember, at the moment the court order is in her favour. She can just sit tight, ignore your suggestions and then keep coming after your dad for arrears and quite possibly her costs for pursuing them if she isn't paid.
    None of this appears fair but the law often doesn't.

    One other suggestion - but it might go against the grain of what you think of the situation and even I find it a little distasteful - is have you though about suggesting capitalising the maintenance.
    The order is for £4 a week, so £208 a year. Maybe you could write and offer her a lump sum as a full and final settlement of the spousal maintenance. You would need to come up with a figure and get a solicitor to draw up an agreement.
    I realise that it means rewarding her further but she doesn't sound like she is just going to disappear and this may be a way of getting her out of your dads life once and for all.
