Does anyone know if there are upper age restrictions on new applications for credit cards ? Can someone who is over 80 apply ?

Can't see why not as long as they meet the criteria, income etc.
My 80+ year old F-in- law is regularly told by his bank there is a CC approved and waiting for him if he requires it. His response is always foxtrot oscar!0 -
I very much doubt that anyone will use age in a scorecard. Less than 18 is usually a policy decline, but aside from that lenders are pretty uncomfortable using age in a new business scorecard.
They could use highly correlated variables to produce the same outcome, such as demanding that you get paid above a certain amount each month, or using residential status, but assuming you could afford the potential repayments I see no reason why you wouldn’t get one. Besides, most are geared to cut back on the younger people not the older ones.0 -
Saga credit card is for the over 50,s so would have thought as 80 is over 50 you will be allowed to apply with them...0
