Morning everyone,
Has anybody had any experience with Ulster, as I personally have never heard of them As you can see from my signature; I owe about £650 on 2 credit cards and I just want to switch it to a 0% on BT for 6 months with no fee and this card fits what I need, Abbey also do the deal but from previous experience I don't really want to be dealing with them! I will be canceling the card as soon as my balance is cleared (and my 2 other current cards for that matter) and looking for a better card, for which I have Virgin in mind. I would switch to Virgin now as they are doing 0% for 15 months but that has a 2.98% fee. Or do you think it would be easier to just switch to the Virgin card straight away and pay the fee of £19 and save switching again in 6 months time?
Thanks every in advance

I'd just switch to Virgin, as each time you apply for a credit card, your credit rating is affected...the more cards you have, the lower your rating. If you got an Ulster card with 0% and no handling fee, when the time came to switch to Virgin, you'd still have to pay the 2.98% fee. If you went straight to Virgin, you'd pay the 2.98% fee anyway but have the 0% for 15 months. So, I can't see any benefit in applying for 2 cards, when Virgin would suffice.0

I wouldnt have to pay the 2.98% to virgin afterwards as I wouldnt have anything to BT to it, I would just be using it as a normal c/card and not overspending on it and therefor paying it off in full each month. I heard something about ifs there a fee to pay it doesnt add it onto the current balance - it gives you two statements?xXx0 -
If you're looking for a totally free BT, I can recommend the Ulster Bank cards (not to be confused with the Ulster Rugby card, which is a completely separate animal run by the Bank of Ireland.)
The Ulster Bank cards offer interest-free BTs for 6 months from account opening. Issued by the Royal Bank of Scotland, they're well worth considering for balances under £4,000. Applications can now be made online, as well as by phone or by post. Once set up, your account can be managed online too.
For a comprehensive list of 0% balance transfer cards with no fees, see top of this table:

Currently, the longest interest-free period available is 6 months though.
To maximise the 0% period, 15 months is currently available, as you know, from Virgin, but there's a 2.98% handling charge. It's your choice really.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Has anyone applied for this card recently?
I was under the impression that the promo period was six months, the T&Cs that came with my card say that the standard card is nine months and the gold card six months, does that mean im entitled to nine months even tho it stated six when i applied?
Thanks

Have just doubled checked and it definatly says 9 months for standard, also not the studnet card (that had too low a limit so i applied for the standard one)0 -

If you did a BT with a handling fee, the fee would appear on your first statement after, as part of the minimum payment due. That way, it would be cleared off immediately. You would not get two statements.0 -
i can recommend them, no issues for me.
the only thing about them is they do not offer online account access, which i found a little frustrating, but its nothing to put you off them really0 -

I had one of their cards for 6 months and used it purely to move a balance to and pay it off and I found them very good - no hassle, and when I closed the account I got a confirmation letter and that was that!
LesleyNO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........0
