    I used to really hate country - then I saw the light (or rather got into Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, Johnny Cash and the Dixie Twins to name just a few).

    It is a varied a genre as rock or blues (with a lot of overlap too). There is definately a lot more to it than Lonesome Cowboys and Standiing by your man type ballads. Bluegrass is one of my favourite styles (Steve Earle did a fantastic album with the Del McCOury Band some years ago),





    Big blues/country scene in Austin - there was a Radio 4 item about Austin last Thursday ( listen again at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00cdtxt)

    Mike Harding has a country music program on Wednesdays on Radio 2 - he plays a real selection of country so you will pick up on what you like and not like.
