Gas CH and oven to Electric

Ok, just about to move into a new flat which is all electric. Has night storage heaters and electric oven and hob etc etc, which I've never had before. All my other flats were gas central with gas oven and hob.

My last years gas bill was nearly £600 and about £250 on electric.

With this new place what sort of bill price should I expect to pay for a year.

And why is it theres loads of site comparing gas on gas and electric on electric but not gas v electric? Or am I just not looking hard enough?

Would really like to know now if I'm going to be paying more for all electric, instead of using a bit of both.

Cheers.

Gas is cheaper to run, Dis., tho more costly to fit and maintain.
Electric heating will need to be on E7 tariff with something like 30% use to compensate for the extra day time rate. Overall more expensive than gas central heating.
Several ways around this, extra insulation, watch the weather so as to run the storage heaters economically.
Become a night owl so as to gain on the lower E7 rates. Use less oven and more steamers/microwave/slow cooking.
    Expect £1000 a year minimum.
If your flat faces south tis good, if surrounded on all sides by other flats even better.

The electric oven will be expensive to run, I'm afraid. We have recently gone from gas oven to electric and are surprised at the difference in costs! IF you do a lot of oven cooking, think about getting a Remoska, it does everything an oven does but at approx 80% leccy saving. We are ordering one today!
