Yes, but no-one will pay me back the two days on the phone that it has taken to sort it out! Or the loss of sleep.. or the stress for the other person I know whose bank refused to take any interest until he got really heavy with them!

If you change to either HSBC or Smile they would deal with DD problems almost instantly. In both cases the DD can be closed immediately online by the user and their fraud departments pick up within a few rings and start the process to get the money paid back instantly. If it took you 2 days on the phone, then change your bank.

Fair enough - accepting BT is a personal decision based on your personal level of risk tolerance. I continue to accept it.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Ask him to make payment by one of the payment methods you have listed and if payment is not received, file an unpaid item claim with ebay at your earliest opportunity.

If you do this, and by some chance they pay with paypal, be afraid!

Cheeky beggar. I think I'd tell him that I accidentally dropped the machine and broke it.

Wait 3 months and sell it again myself.

That might explain then what he is doing...this is going to be one of my explanations and you know what they are like!

Buyer A buys your laptop and sells it to buyer B, Buyer A then supplies you with Buyer B's address for shipping. Buyer A then has made a profit and never even handled the laptop! This might also explain why the bank transfer..he has no need to confirm his address and can ask you to ship it wherever you like.

There is nothing wrong with this at all, albeit it being very cheeky and so horribly easy to go wrong. Obviously when you ship it you will need to add your own paid invoice showing the amount paid to you...won't you?

Two other points, firstly you'd think he'd have the sense to use a completely different ID to resell the laptop. Secondly, this is one of the methods for making a million (or not!!) on ebay from that infamous book..ie you buy from one seller and have them ship it to your own buyer and you pocket the postage fees charged and hopefully also make a profit.

I suppose you now need to study your selling techniques and figure out why he has got a higher bid than you yet he is a new seller with no track record.
