Wifi has disappeared from laptop?

Hello

WiFi seems to have disappeared so can't connect to the web. Laptop help said radio is disabled, changed it to enabled - didn't work. Also said to do Function and F2 and that hasn't helped.

My laptop is a dell xps M1210 (second-hand) had it for about 5 weeks and all has been working fine. My PC is still working fine so it can't be anything to do with the router (although I did try the reset button, but didn't help), also tried a system restore and that didn't work either. Any ideas on how to fix?

Many thanks
Terri:confused:

When you double click the wireless icon in the bottom right of the screen, do you get a list of networks available? Or does it say no wireless connections found?

What program are you using to view wireless networks? is it windows or the dell wireless manager?
  • Dunno if this will help but my laptop had a little switch on the front to turn wifi on and off you haven't accidentally knocked it off (if it has one that is). I did it and took ages to work out !!!!!! had happened.
Nothing to see here, move along.

if its not the button on the front, check the card hasn't become dislodged from its socket, it is rather like a square memory module except it has 2 little thin wire connectors aswell that are for the antenna,at least thats how it is on my acer.

Yes it was the little switch on the side - I didn't even know it was there.

    Thanks so much.

It's all sorted now thanks. I think it did say no wireless connections found but it was just the little switch on the side of the lap top.

    Thanks for your help :j
