Double glazing noise help (in Leeds)

Hi - would appreciate any help/advice on getting really good double glazing that will keep out the very loud wind that howls round our house which is on a corner at the top of a hill.
The back isn't noisy, just the front, and the side door.
Everest say they do d/g with a big gap - is there a cheaper alternative to them? What do we ask for? How do we avoid getting ripped off?

The simplest and cheapest way to improve the sound insulation from double glazing is to use different thicknesses of glass on either side of the unit. Then it's secondary glazing (ugly), triple glazing, accoustic (thick) glass and non-parallel units (suggest this last one to the rep and watch for a reaction).0

Hi
I know very little about doors and windows but as a landlord I have had a number of problems over the years and use a company called UPVC Maintenance in Pudsey 0113 236 1900. They solved a number of really difficult problems for me including finding parts that everyone else told me were obsolete. They have dealt with emergency repairs like when a patio door blew off its hinges, they attended promply and did a great job.
I've always found them to be very helpful and reliable. I don't believe they will be the cheapest but then cheap is not always best.
I have no connection with the firm other than being a satisfied customer and now I would not use anyone else having found them, although I haven't used them for new windows, only repairs. I thought I would recommend them as decent double glazing companies can be hard to come by.
I hope this helps.0
