One Month FREE Unlimited music downloads

One Month Free Trial with Napster

:j Thats unlimited downloads for one month :j .

http://www.napster.co.uk/
You have to use a credit or debit card to sign up but you wont be charged if you cancel before the end of the trial

I just signed up and all works fine, So far I have downloaded 5 albums without a hitch. They are saved as WAV files on my computer.

Watchout when trying to use their burn facility though
I tried to download a 22 track album directly to a CD and a message came uo to say my card would be charged 79p  a track if I went ahead.

Theres nothing stopping you from burning to CD from your computer though using your own burner program :p

    There is. DRM :(

And also you do know that if you don't keep paying then your music 'expires' so to speak.

Not as good as it looks, but hey I guess you can listen to some songs free for a month!
  • Sorry I am no tecchie and don't know what DRM is, please help?

Is there any way I can burn downloaded files to disc legally?

Oh well, I guess if not at least I got to enjoy some decent music!

    Thanks

  • If it is saved as a WAV how can it have DRM (Digital Rights Management) applied to it?

Lots of ways round DRM, have a look on Google.
  • I had this last time the offer was on and as soon as the free trial ended and i cancelled i was unable to play the songs i had already downloaded as needed a licence off napster! And i couldnt burn them either.

    Whats DRM
What I do know is that you can download tracks to hard disc as wma files.

DRM = Digital Rights Management. In other words the music you download has a licence attached to it. If you unsubscribe from Napster your licences expire and the music casnnot be played anymore. Also, the DRM stops you burning to a CD, though you could put the music onto a compatible MP3 player (though again, the licence expires when you stop using Napster).

As was said above, there are many ways around DRM (check Google), but in the interests of not getting my wrists slapped by the Board Guide I will say no more on that!!
