My desktop PC has started shutting down without warning. According to DH it's as though no signal is getting through from the base unit to the monitor yet the connections are secure.
Does anyone know what would cause this and more importantly is it fixable without spending a fortune.
In the meantime can anyone tell us how to save our most important emails onto a pendrive. We've saved documents and internet favourites but have various holiday related booking receipts which we need to back up.
Finally where is the best comparison site should we need to buy a new PC?
BTW I can still access this site using DD's laptop if needs be

Sounds more like the desktop is overheating, take the cover off and give it a good clean.
Start it up after you've cleaned it without the cover on and see if it boots up ok without restarting itself.0 -

Thanks to you both.
DH took himself off to PC World and the techie guy there agrees with you both too. So the side is coming off today and a little cleaning is going to be attempted. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Just to add that DH is grateful to you for saving us a few hundred quid. The amount of dust inside the unit was horrendous apparently. All's working well nowThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
