help broken gas fire

Hi I am new to the site and need some advice. My gas fire has faulty ignition and I rang British Gas who told me they charge £168 for repairs regardless of problem. Can anyone suggest cheaper corgi registered repairers in the Manchester area? I hope it is ok to ask this.

Use yell.com and phone a few corgi guys near you. Or go on the Corgi website to find one. Get several quotes. If it's just a standard ignition fault, can't see it being more than £40-50 or so. That's what ours was roughly when it borked.0

Thanks for that DNK, I'll try it.0

As above, use the corgi website. Not all gas men are qualified to work with gas fires - many only have the certification to do boilers and cookers.0
