We agree entirely but, as you say, each to his own. SIL wouldn't be seen dead on Compton and thought Sandown was the bees knees. Drove through Sandown on the way back from the Zoo and decided we much prefered Compton Bay.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
Loads of info in this thread. Thanks
I'm planning to spend a weekend in Isle of wight, but travelling by train. I neither drive nor owns a car.
Could anyone suggest a good place to stay (Hotel / B&B) for 2 days for 2 persons? My budget is £80 max per day
Thankyou0 -

If you cycle, then there are quite a few cycle routes around the island - we saw loads of people on bikes.
I guess it depends what you are after from your weekend and which ferry you are using. The bigger towns/holiday resort type places are on the East of the IOW and its quieter on the West.
I can't advise on B&B as we hired a static caravan. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time, its a beautiful place.
It might be a good idea to decide what you would like to see and then look at the public transport options before deciding where to stay. There is a small railway which seems to link Ryde and Sandown and connects with the steam railway so I think you will be relying on the buses.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
We really enjoyed the Isle of Wight Zoo - gorgeous white tigers - although it's quite small, it is next to the beach.0

Thanks everyone for the info. It will help me plan our holiday in October. We are trying to find any vouchers that will give us (two adults) a bit of a discount. We have some Brit Trips, Tetley and Clubcard points that we will use. I was just wondering what types of offers are in the booklet on the ferry that LesD mentioned.0
