BT are desperate to get you back

BT are currently woo-ing ex-customers back with the offer of a free caller display service and BT privacy. But if you don't want to go back here's how to play them...
when I told them I was pleased with my free weekend calls and £10 incentive with talktalk they told me that IF I used the BT 4-digit prefix ONCE A MONTH I could get all the freebies; therefore saving my current cost of £8.94 a quarter for caller display/call waiting...AND stay with talktalk.
Seems they're pretty desperate to get people back if only to use the figures in advertising; ie: X in X people are coming back to BT...sad really; if only they had offered us a competitive service in the first place we wouldn't have gone elsewhere..

Yeah - received a letter this morning telling me to come back - thing is I haven't left!!
I use 18866 at the moment, and make 1 call a month via BT to get the Caller Display for free - and last week's bill showed it as advance charge £0.00 for 3 months.
So their cleverly worded letter is destined for the existing shredder - interestingly I did the 'free' call last night and their letter states that once their systems recognise I've come back to BT the shredder will be dispatched - that would be ironic!
I do like the way they are avoiding defining the requirement for making calls to qualify for free caller display - the note on the back of the letter reads as follow:
How tight they get on 'some' remains to be seen - the context is plural - but there is no time constraint - I'm billed quarterly, so my bill shows some calls via BT (three + any unavoidable 0870's), but monthly there is often one call (so not some). Perhaps I should shell out another 5.5p per month to make two calls?BT wrote:2. BT residential customers making some calls on the BT network can opt in to receive Caller Display for free, subject to availability. etc etc.0 -

I have asked in another thread but does anyone know if the ringback charges count towards using the BT network for the free Privacy service??0 -
Might be worth calling their customer services - free - 150; I'm sure they'd be able to tell you. I doubt though whether ringback would count as adding the 4-figure prefix might not work?0
