Help Please

 MY MUMS GOT A CREDIT CARD AND WAS LATE PAYING THE LAST INSTALMENT OF £13.92
AND BECAUSE SHE WAS LATE HAS BEEN CHARGED £12.00 FOR LATE PAYMENT AND INTEREST FOR NEXT MONTH OF £1.00 (EVEN THOUGH THE BALANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN £0.00)
SHE WAS HOPING IT WOULD ALL BE PAID OFF BUT AS SHE WAS LATE IT NOW ISNT

IS THERE ANYTHING SHE CAN DO OR DO THE CHARGES NEED TO BE PAID FOR

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ANSWERS :T

First (and only) thing to do is phone the card provider and see if they are willing to remove the charge. I've done it several times although only once was the charge due to something I'd done, the rest were problems at their end.

If you mum has a good payment record then make sure this is highlighted when she calls.
  • She'll have to pay the £13.92 plus the £12 late fee plus interest. The next statement will also show a little bit of interest, which has accrued from the time the statement was issued to the time her payment clears. Once she's made 2 consecutive payments in full and on time, interest will vanish.

Lots of people gripe about late fees and interest charges, but I say when you sign up for a credit card and neglect to read the small print, then it's nobody's fault but your own. You want to play the game, you have to play by the rules.
